FEATURES AND BENEFITS OF DECORATIVE CONCRETE ENGRAVING
We use your existing concrete surface.
That means we do not come in a pour a 1/4" polymer over your existing concrete. We use what you already have and engrave any pattern you would like into it.
Any pattern and design is possible.
We have a wide variety of colors and design patterns to choose from. We can engrave circular brick, linear brick, tile, cobblestone, flagstone, or any design or character. When it comes to color we can match the color of your roof, or front entry.
Warranty of design.
The pattern that we engrave into your existing concrete will last the life of the concrete. Meaning that the pattern will not come loose and pop out. It will not chip up or peel off the surface. How can it. The design has been engraved into your originally poured concrete surface.
Easy cleaning of the surface.
Depending upon where you had the engraving done will determine how it is cleaned.
For interior cleaning.
Simple vacuum or sweep to keep regular dirt off the surface. You can mop the surface with a solution of water and neutral cleaner. A wax will only need to be applied every two years to keep it shining bright.
For exterior cleaning of driveways, patios, pool decks, etc. Use a scrub brush and water every six months to a year.
WHAT IS CONCRETE COLORING AND STAINING?
Acid Stains
Acid staining is a coloring process that causes a chemical reaction with any cement materials. It is extremely durable, fade resistant and can be applied to both interior and exterior areas. Acid stained interior floor surfaces are quickly replacing those areas where carpet used to be the norm.
An infinite number of stunning color effects and unique designs are possible. Acid staining gives your concrete a variegated, marble-like appearance at a fraction of the cost of real marble.
Pigmented Stains
Pigmented stains will actually bond with your concrete and won't fade, peel, or flake while they maintain their beautiful appearance for many years to come. Pigmented stain is an ideal finish designed to add deeply penetrating protection and enduring beauty to driveways, patios, walkways, and garage floors or any concrete surface. These concrete stains are highly resistant to abrasion and are available for exterior and interior surfaces. Check out some photos of pigmented staining projects here.
- What's the cost?
It depends on the size of the project and condition of concrete surfaces. Residential: figure $3.75 - $8.50 per square foot. Commercial projects could be even less.
- How long does it take?
Depending on the design and area involved, typical jobs take 3 to 4 days.
- Can residents stay on the premises during the work?
90 % of the time. When the final coat is applied we advise that residents leave for at least 5 to 6 hours
- Can multiple colors be used?
Yes! This will enhance the artistic value of your floor.
- How much maintenance is required?
Vacuum and damp mop as needed. This surface is low-maintenance. We recommend resealing the surface every few years. Oils and spills are easily cleaned.
- Are sidewalks or porches stainable?
Yes, but a different seal coat is applied due to moisture possibilities. Also you should be forewarned that old driveways, sidewalks and patios may not have the vibrancy of color.
- Where can engraving and staining be done?
Nearly most concrete surfaces (interior or exterior) can be engraved and stained.
- Can new concrete be engraved and stained?
Absolutely! New or older surfaces will improve with our concrete engraving process.
- How is color added to the concrete surface?
We use commercial-grade reactive stains. The stains are designed to permanently penetrate the concrete surface and are available in a wide variety of colors.
- How thick is the finished product?
Unlike other treatments, there is no additional thickness with this process. The pattern is engraved into the existing surface.
- How deep are the engraving cuts?
The cuts simulate a grout line and range from 1/16’ to 1/8’ deep.
- Will the colors chip or fade?
The color will be as durable as untreated concrete. The colors may change due to long -term exposure to the elements. In some cases, colors actually look better with age. We seal all surfaces, which prolongs the life of the stain.
THE PROCESS
- You choose a pattern and color(s) to best compliment your home or business.
- The surface of the concrete is power-washed and cleaned.
- Penetrating color stains are applied to the existing concrete surface.
- Using our patented equipment, specially trained and certified personnel engrave selected patterns into the existing concrete, exposing the natural grout line of the concrete beneath the stained surface.
- Finally, the newly stained and engraved surface is treated with a commercial clearcoat sealer.
